Meet Kameron Roach

Born and raised in Hopkins, South Carolina, Kameron Roach ’23 is currently interning with Charlotte Athletics. Learn more about her internship and her time at Charlotte as a highly accomplished women’s basketball player.

What do you do as an executive team intern with Charlotte Athletics?
My main responsibility is boosting engagement for our sober student tailgate, which we host at every home football game. I also assist with planning and coordinating events for special groups including alumni and current athletes. Another key component of my position is assisting new athletes with their onboarding process. It is my responsibility to ensure that each athlete has completed their Title IX paperwork before officially arriving on campus. This is an integral part of my position as it ensures that student-athletes are protected against discrimination. My favorite part of the job has to be the opportunity to work March Madness.

What position did you play at Charlotte?
After beginning my college basketball career at the University of Kentucky as a guard, I came to Charlotte and played my final two seasons as a 49er.

What are you most proud of from your Charlotte basketball career?
I am proud of being a part of such a monumental team. During my career we were fortunate enough to not only win a regular season championship but our conference tournament championship.

What made you choose Charlotte?
I chose Charlotte because I wanted to be closer to home after completing my undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the University of Kentucky in kinesiology and health promotion. I transferred to Charlotte to obtain a master’s degree in liberal arts, and I graduated in 2023. I had a prior connection to Charlotte y through my relationship with previous coaches Nicole Woods and Cara Consuegra. I met both coaches while playing AAU basketball during my younger years. Charlotte has always been like a second home, so it made sense to finish here.
