Meet a Niner: Kenan Moore
Kenan Moore, a junior marketing major with a minor in Africana Studies, is a Belk College of Business Honors Program participant. A recipient of the Bernard Reeves Scholarship, he has studied abroad in Paris and founded the Black Organization Alliance Board. In addition, Moore is a legacy student, as his sister, Jordan Moore, graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2019. Learn more about Moore in this Q&A.
Why did you choose UNC Charlotte?
I chose UNC Charlotte because it had the business college fit for me, plenty of networking opportunities and would give me a chance to grow. I found that UNC Charlotte was affordable, many of my hometown friends were coming here and the city of Charlotte offered so much to a young adult.
Can you talk about the Black Organization Alliance Board?
I founded the Black Organization Alliance Board because I wanted to create a community for people like me who could benefit from the many resources offered here and around the city. The idea is to optimize the best college experience for each student of color at UNC Charlotte through service, academic assistance, social engagements and collaboration with other organizations. The Black Organization Alliance Board is an inclusive environment that is dedicated to ensuring the best college experience for each student through a variety of ways that can bring long-lasting friendships, memories and the tools to cross the stage with success!
What other campus organizations are you involved in?
I was elected to be on SGA and am a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. I also went to nationals with the Flag Football Club and am involved with two honors societies.
How would you describe UNC Charlotte?
UNC Charlotte is a metropolis village.
What do you like to do when you aren’t studying?
I like to work out, be with my fraternity brothers and close friends, go to parties, eat, make music, write stories or nap when I get the chance.
What’s a fun fact about you that many people may not know?
I would like to learn how to play the piano and guitar!
