Meet Jordan Holliday-Millard

Meet Jordan Holliday-Millard, director of enrollment communications. Learn about different aspects of his role, his exploration of Charlotte and his advice to new employees.

How long have you been at UNC Charlotte?

I’ve been a member of Niner Nation for over seven years. I started in 2015 with orientation and parent programs in new student and family services (now transition and success initiatives), and I transitioned to work in enrollment communications in 2021.

Can you describe your role at UNC Charlotte?

At Charlotte, I serve as the director of enrollment communications. Our team works to enhance student enrollment and persistence from inquiry to graduation through effective marketing and communications initiatives for enrollment management departments. Our team promotes the Charlotte experience to prospective students and families through our work with Undergraduate Admissions and collaboration with other campus communicators, as well as strives to ensure timely and clear communication to current students and supporters about important campus processes.

Where did you go to school?

I attended the University of Georgia where I received a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in public relations and a master’s in college student affairs administration. I’m also a student at Charlotte, working on my doctorate of education in educational leadership in higher education.

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Carrollton, Georgia, but I’m proud to call the Queen City home now!

What is something people may not know about enrollment at UNC Charlotte?

Enrollment is everyone’s business! It’s easy to think about enrollment as admissions recruiting new students to our institution. However, each touchpoint and interaction our students have with all parts of the University – even the smallest ones – are influencing their connection and perception of our institution. Because of that we all play a role in both recruiting and retaining students to graduation. Even if you feel like your role is far from capital-E enrollment, we all play a part in the success of our 49er students, their families and the larger community.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Besides work and homework, I love exploring Charlotte’s unique breweries, restaurants and sports (Go Charlotte FC!) and arts events. I’m also a huge television fan who subscribes to too many apps and has a bad habit of making my husband start new shows and never finish them (much to his chagrin).

What is something you enjoy doing on campus when you’re not working?

I love connecting with colleagues at Thoughtful Cup in Fretwell. The new space is so welcoming and a great place to catch up and network with fellow 49ers.

What is one place everyone must visit on campus?

Everyone should visit the golden nugget outside the Barnhardt Student Activity Center and rub it for good luck! The nugget is a direct connection to Charlotte’s gold rush history (Reed Gold Mine) and a great tradition that people often forget. Also, throwing a penny in Norm’s pan in the CHHS/COED Plaza is one of my favorite things that we do here. Whether you’re currently connected to campus or hope to be, it’s a great way to get some good luck!

What advice do you have for prospective employees?

When we say that Charlotte is shaping what’s next, we mean it. The University is focused on innovating and creating a better future for our students, faculty, staff and beyond. If you have big ideas and a go-getter spirit, Charlotte is a home for you. I am constantly impressed with the opportunities and support that community members are offered to build new and great things, from improving processes for students to developing new programs that connect directly to our fast-growing city. Our community is forging a brighter future, and we can’t wait for you to join that journey.
