Risk Management, Safety and Security changes name
The department formerly known as Risk Management, Safety and Security is now Safety and Security.
The name change, which was effective July 1, 2017, was made to more accurately reflect the department’s areas of responsibility in the Division of Business Affairs, as well as to help clarify the addition of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to the newly created Division of Institutional Integrity.
Safety and Security is responsible for the plans and programs that protect lives and property, prevent accidents and incidents and preserve the learning environment and business operations of UNC Charlotte.
The offices within the department include: Police and Public Safety, Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Environmental Health and Safety, and Risk Management and Insurance.
Enterprise Risk Management will focus on strategic and reputational risk assessment, while Risk Management and Insurance will continue to focus on hazard-based risk identification, mitigation and controls.
All staffing and contact information for Safety and Security remains the same.
More information about Safety and Security and the services provided to the University community is available on the web.
