New TV commercial has national debut
Over the weekend, UNC Charlotte’s new 30-second television commercial made its national debut during the 49ers’ football game against the Maryland Terrapins.
The commercial, “Charlotte: Great City, Great University,” introduces Charlotte and its global-impacting research to a national TV audience as a new member of the American Athletic Conference.
Produced and developed in-house by University Communications, the commercial highlights the University’s connection to the fast-growing Charlotte region and highlights its nationally ranked academics, game-changing research and phenomenal students.
The spot will air during halftime of football games this season and is part of a new messaging platform that builds on the University’s strong connections to the city of Charlotte and aims to showcase UNC Charlotte as the region’s public research university.
The Charlotte 49ers joined the American Athletic Conference officially on July 1. The move to the bigger stage brings greater national media exposure and new competition, including in-state rival East Carolina University.
The commercial also is airing during “Mining for Greatness,” an ESPN+ docuseries featuring Charlotte football and first year coach Biff Poggi.
