COMING UP ROSES
UNC Charlotte’s Botanical Gardens hosts the popular Spring Plant Sale open to the public April 7-8. Offerings include native wildflowers, butterfly and hummingbird plants, azaleas, hydrangeas, ferns, colorful annuals, carnivorous plants, succulents, herbs and more!
EMMY WIN
UNC Charlotte’s Office of University Communications recently won an Emmy Award in the Entertainment category for the “UNC Charlotte 2021 Holiday Video” at the 37th annual Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee. This is the University’s second Emmy win.
CONQUERING MOUNTAINS
Deepika Dave ’15, recently conquered Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak, which rises to 19,241 feet. During the six-day journey, Dave and nine adventurous Charlotte-based women of color trekked for five to seven hours daily and up to nine hours during summit nights.
FROM CONGO TO CHARLOTTE
At just five years old, Democratic Republic of Congo-born Celestin Gasirabo ’22 endured the dangerous journey to Rwanda to escape an ongoing war in his home country. Armed with little more than determination, strength and the clothes on his back, Gasirabo has transformed his life, recently receiving his degree in computer engineering.

The entertainment begins March 28 with a celebration reception at Discovery Place Science and continues March 29 with a benefit concert featuring The Voice’s John Sullivan ’10 with Sulli and Friends on campus.
