Sigma Tau Delta Crowdfunding to Attend Annual Conference
UNC Charlotte’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the premier international English honors society, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The honor society recognizes student achievement in academics and literary outreach through educational, social and community events.
Five members of Charlotte’s chapter will present at the Sigma Tau Delta annual conference in Denver, Colorado at the end of March. Their projects range from literary criticism to creative writing endeavors.
Catherine Sawyers, a senior English major with a concentration in creative writing and a minor in psychology, will present a piece of poetry she has written at the conference..
“I’m always looking for people who I share interests with but who can also offer a diverse perspective on subjects,” said Sawyers.“Sigma Tau Delta has shown me the different aspects of English and has been an incredible place to find these varied outlooks.”
The honors society is currently crowdfunding to help fund their trip to the conference and are looking to raise $3,000.
“This is an incredible opportunity for us to share our work, network with students and faculty from other schools, and experience an academic conference,” said Rowan Grayson, a junior double majoring in English and Latin American studies and minoring in diverse literatures and cultural studies.
