UNC Charlotte’s inaugural HUB Expo will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, in the CHHS/CoEd Quad. This is a great opportunity to connect with more than 75 local women- and minority-owned businesses. Food trucks will be onsite with food for purchase, and a DJ will perform from noon to 2 p.m.

FACULTY & STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Reminder: The public presentation for the third finalist for the dean of the Belk College of Business is from 1 to 2:15 p.m., today, Thursday, April 11, in the Popp Martin Student Union Movie Theater.
  • Register for the 2024 W+GRA Women’s Summit, which will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, at The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City.
  • As the fiscal year winds down, please review the FY2024 spending cutoff deadlines and other year-end reminders.
  • The W+GRA, urbanCORE, PORTAL and Stiletto Boss University are sponsoring the InspireHer Innovations Symposium, an electrifying youth entrepreneurship conference, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 20, at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
  • Register for the second annual AI Institute for Smarter Learning, highlighting student perspectives on generative AI at UNC Charlotte, being held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, at The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City.

  • On Tuesday, during Niner Nation Gives, UNC Charlotte honored business and University leader Dontá L. Wilson ’97 for his commitment to future generations of students with the naming of the Dontá L. Wilson Residence Hall.

ATTEND AN UPCOMING EVENT

  • Join the Health and Wellbeing unit at the third annual Wellbeing Block Party from noon to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, in the CHHS/CoEd Plaza. Enjoy a wellness fair, food trucks, giveaways, games and much more!
  • Join co-founder and CEO of WellWithAll Demond Martin ’97 and chairman/co-founder of Improbable Media and ESPN host Jay Williams for an inspirational fireside chat on mental wellness, resilience and overall well-being from 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, April 18, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Room 340. Doors will open at 10:45 a.m.
  • First-Generation Appreciation Day will celebrate first-gen Niners through games, activities, fun, food and fellowship from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, April 18, in the Star and West quads.
  • QPR is a 90-minute training intended to foster a community of care by teaching individuals to recognize the warning signs of suicide including verbal, behavioral and situational clues. The next QPR training will be held virtually from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 19.
  • The Office of Alumni Engagement and the Black Alumni Chapter will celebrate the achievements of UNC Charlotte’s Black graduates during the Donning of the Kente Ceremony from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 9, in the Cone University Center, McKnight Hall. Please register by Monday, May 6.
  • Graduating legacy students and families are invited to attend the Legacy Draping Ceremony at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 9, in Popp Martin Student Union, Room 340. The deadline to RSVP is Monday, May 6.
