WSOC staff to talk Congressional election fraud
WSOC-TV reporter Joe Bruno is credited with breaking the news regarding election fraud in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District. He and producer, Mike Stolp, will visit campus to give an insider’s look at the investigation into falsified absentee ballots.
“A Conversation with Joe Bruno and Mike Stolp” is scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Room 340. This event is being sponsored by Leadership and Community Engagement in the Division of Student Affairs.
Student Leila Abu-Hassan, the event organizer and democracy intern for Leadership and Community Engagement, said, “I am always reminded of how lucky I am to be a student at UNC Charlotte, when we are given such incredible opportunities to have speakers like Joe Bruno come. In our current political climate there is nothing more important than being an active, civically engaged citizen. Having the opportunity to learn about the ballot fraud scandal from Joe and Mike is going to be an experience that I know a lot of students are excited about.”
Bruno, who has been a reporter in Charlotte since 2014, received Cronkite and Polk awards for his political reporting on the 9th Congressional District. He also is a two-time Emmy and two-time Associated Press award-winner.
Stolp has been the investigative producer at WSOC-TV since 2011.
