Unless there is an unexpected change in campus conditions, the University will resume normal operations at 12 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Remember safety comes first
While the University is obligated to make decisions based on the conditions on campus, it is important to remember the weather in other areas may be more severe. Regardless of the University’s operating condition, members of the University community should exercise good judgment about their ability to reach campus safely.

Faculty members are asked to use their discretion in determining appropriate academic accommodations for students who ask for consideration returning to campus late because of issues related to the hurricane. Flexibility is especially urged for those students who reside in areas more significantly affected by the storm.

For those unable to reach campus Tuesday:

  • Students: Contact professors directly. Monitor email and class Canvas or Moodle website for messages from your instructors.
  • Faculty: Consult the Academic Procedure: Schedule Interruption Guidelines and contact your department head to discuss alternative arrangements. If needed, Saturday, Dec. 1, is designated as the date for making up classes canceled due to weather. Additionally, you should update your students about any attendance policies or modifications due to weather-related events.
  • Staff: Non-mandatory employees should contact their supervisors to discuss how they will account for missed time. Mandatory employees are expected to report to work as directed.

Ongoing monitoring
University officials will continue to monitor the weather and campus conditions. Should there be a need to alter the plan outlined above, the campus community will be notified via NinerAlerts.
