Opening of Phillips Road Bridge marks milestone for roadway improvements

The recently completed Phillips Road Bridge will open midday Saturday, March 12, which means there will be a new campus traffic pattern at the intersection of Cameron Boulevard and Craver Road.

The existing intersection of Phillips Road and Cameron Boulevard will close as work to remove the asphalt along a section of old Phillips Road begins.

Construction manager Jennifer Price explained that drivers and pedestrians should continue to remain alert as they maneuver this new traffic pattern. “Everyone’s safety is paramount, so members of the campus community should exercise caution as students, faculty and staff adjust to these changes.”

Barricades and construction signage will be erected around work zones.

The Phillips Road realignment is part of the ongoing Campus Infrastructure Development plan to provide long-term benefits for vehicular and pedestrian flow around the University.
