Enhanced Swap-n-Shop to launch in early November
The popular Inside UNC Charlotte service Swap-n-Shop is being expanded through a trial partnership with OfficeAccord, a software as service provider that specializes in creating branded digital bulletin boards that enable employees to buy and sell personal items, arrange ride shares, organize “meet ups” and find housing.
Inside UNC Charlotte users will continue to access Swap-n-Shop using their NinerNet credentials. To promote a more private, trusted community, posts will not be public, thus, requiring employees to log in to view the site.
“Our trial partnership with OfficeAccord will offer a private, secure network for University colleagues and add new services that can build community for employees who have shared interests,” said Stephen Ward, executive director of University communications. “During our initial 90-day trial period, we encourage faculty and staff to become acquainted with the expanded Swap-n-Shop offerings and provide feedback via email to insideuncc@uncc.edu.”
The expected go-live date is Monday, Nov. 2.
In addition to buying and selling personal items exclusively to other University employees, Swap-n-Shop’s new features will include the ability to publicize meet ups to promote various office events or social activities to other faculty and staff members. A ride share module will make it easier to find or host a carpool, and the housing module will allow employees to advertise properties for sale or rent.
OfficeAccord also is smartphone compatible. UNC Charlotte alumnus and former SGA president Ben Comstock is the co-founder of OfficeAccord.
