Courses scheduled on how to use an AED
The Environmental Health and Safety Office will conduct training on the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, and Friday, July 31, in the Cone University Center, Room 208.
These one-hour courses will familiarize attendees with the appropriate use of AEDs in the event of an emergency. UNC Charlotte has more than 40 AEDs located in various buildings across campus.
Lamont Baldwin, fire and safety life manager with the Environmental Health and Safety Office, said, “Widespread use of AEDs reduces response times and save lives. When a person has a heart attack or has symptoms of cardiac arrest, the AED analyzes the individual’s heart rhythm and can emit an electrical shock to the heart if needed.”
