Urban design students to present UCity plans
College of Arts + Architecture Assistant Professor Ming-Chun Lee and students from the Master of Urban Design program will present their work at the next Civic by Design Forum on Tuesday, July 14, at the Levine Museum of the New South. The event is free and open to the public.
The topic of the July 14 forum is landscape urbanism, an emerging practice that combines the approaches and concerns of landscape architecture with those of urban design. Lee and the UNC Charlotte students will present their explorations in landscape architecture as manifested in designs for University City, which were developed in their spring 2015 urban design studio.
The Master of Urban Design (MUD) program at UNC Charlotte mediates the professional disciplines of architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, development, and engineering that together shape our urban environment. The MUD program takes the Charlotte metropolitan region as a laboratory while simultaneously reexamining issues on the national and global scales.
The mission of the Civic by Design Center is to elevate the quality of the region’s built environment and to promote public participation in the creation of a more beautiful and functional region for everyone.
