FACULTY & STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Learn about the new Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grants program, along with other important updates in this week’s Academic Affairs Weekly News Digest.
- Attend University Convocation, Thursday, Aug. 17, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Multipurpose Room. Light refreshments will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the program at 10 a.m., which will be livestreamed.
- On Thursday, Aug. 17, Ginger is hosting a live workshop on how to foster balance in your life, no matter the circumstances.
- The Student Health Center has developed a free one-hour program that provides a basic understanding of contributors and risk factors of Opioid Use Disorder, how to recognize the signs/symptoms of an opioid overdose and how to administer the opioid reversal medication spray. The next program is Tuesday, Aug. 15, from noon to 1 p.m.
- Attend the last two virtual webinars for Charlotte employees: “The Art of Saying No,” Wednesday, Aug. 16, and “Managing the Work Life Balance,” Wednesday, Aug. 23.

- Attend a book talk with La Shonda Mims, author of “Drastic Dykes and Accidental Activists: Queer Women in the Urban South,” Friday, Aug. 18.
- Are you curious about fraternity and sorority life? Learn from the experts at the Help! I Want to Go Greek! free event at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, in Cone University Center, Room 112.
- Do you want to get involved on campus but don’t know where to start? Meet over 100 UNC Charlotte student organizations at the Student Orgs Showcase from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20, in the CHHS/CoEd Plaza.
- New Student Convocation is Sunday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. All incoming first-year and transfer students should attend.

Charlotte 49ers redshirt junior defensive lineman Mike Kelly was named to the preseason watch list for the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy, college football’s premier award for community service.
