UNC Charlotte has an abundance of beautifully maintained green spaces, gardens, ponds and greenways to admire. In honor of Earth Month, faculty, staff and students were asked to submit photos of their favorite areas around campus. Here’s what fellow Niners had to say.

Streams play a key role in the environment. In 2018, Mecklenburg County Storm Services set out to improve stream and water quality to restore Toby Creek to a stable and natural condition. Located in the University City area, Toby Creek is a valuable asset to UNC Charlotte’s health and provides learning and teaching opportunities.

Trees aren’t just for decorating urban spaces. They absorb greenhouse gasses, improve mental health, house wildlife and cool urban areas in addition to making the campus and city look better. The Facilities Management Grounds Department, Sustainability Office and TreesCharlotte co-hosted a tree planting event on campus for students and the Charlotte community.

Mullen Automotive, a Southern California-based automotive company, recently delivered seven Class 1 electric vehicle (EV) cargo vans to UNC Charlotte. These new EVs will be used for various purposes, including campus delivery and facility services.
