Meet a Niner

Evan Wantland, a teaching professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, recently was named director of Math Pathways. In this new role, he is responsible for ensuring the people and resources are in place to redesign the University’s Math Pathways for every student as the focus of Charlotte’s Quality Enhancement Plan.

  • Attend “Fostering Constructive Disagreement in Student Discourse” with Kevin Marinelli, teaching associate professor and executive director for the Program for Public Discourse, at UNC Chapel Hill, at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, via Zoom.
  • The Office of OneIT has created a new OneIT Orientation course that is now available in the Learning and Development Portal. Learn information about the Office of OneIT, the services it offers and the technologies available to you.
  • The Office of International Programs invites full-time faculty to participate in its annual weeklong Global Learning and Internationalization Institute from May 15-20. Participants will receive a $1,000 stipend; the application deadline is Friday, March 24.

  • Atkins Library has a mobile app! This innovative, free application puts the library’s website at your fingertips with quick access to your library account information, the library’s catalog, study room reservations and much more.
  • Every student has a story, and the Office of International Programs invites you to share yours! The Marian Beane Crossing Borders writing contest is an opportunity to share your international experience, which can include studying abroad or a cultural experience in your home country. Winners may receive up to $400.
