Register for Legal Affairs Symposium
The Office of Legal Affairs will hold its annual fall symposium on legal issues in higher education from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Salons.
The symposium will feature six sessions; participants can choose between two topics to attend each session. Registration details and the agenda are online.
Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
University participating in bonus leave payouts
The North Carolina General Assembly again has provided a special provision in the current fiscal year’s budget legislation that gives state agencies, including the UNC system, the choice to offer eligible employees the opportunity to cash in a portion of bonus leave previously awarded by the General Assembly.
UNC Charlotte has chosen to participate in this program by allowing eligible employees to cash in up to 20 hours of bonus leave for a one-time payment to be included in their Nov. 30, 2017, paychecks.
Nominees sought for 2018 Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence
The selection committee for the 2018 Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence is soliciting nominees. This award is one of the most important and prestigious awards presented by the University as it honors outstanding teachers on campus and provides an example of UNC Charlotte’s commitment to teaching excellence.

Closure of Cameron/Craver intersection scheduled
A section of Craver Road will be closed from 6 a.m., Monday, Oct. 9, through 6 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, for asphalt repairs.
The road closure, starting at the Cameron Boulevard intersection, will be to the Burson Hall Service Road; access to Parking Lot 15 will be from Mary Alexander Road.
Signage and construction barriers will be present; expect traffic delays and heavy machinery/construction personnel in the area.
Reminder, stay alert and exercise caution when approaching construction zones.
Counseling Center now in new location
The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (formerly the Counseling Center) has moved its operations to a new building adjacent to the Student Health Center.
Temporary sidewalk closure scheduled
The walkways between Davis Lake and the Cone Parking Deck 1 will be closed through Thursday, Jan. 18, due to construction.
Pedestrians will be rerouted to the sidewalk along University Road through Parking Lot 7A and in front of Memorial Hall. The sidewalk along Broderick Boulevard between University Road to Alumni Way is an alternative route, too.
Signage and fencing will be installed; remember to exercise caution when approaching construction zones.
Murray needs shared leave
Elizabeth Murray with the Department of Materials Management needs shared leave donations.
To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. Who are internal auditors?
Internal auditors are explorers, analysts, problem-solvers, reporters and trusted advisors. They bring objectivity and a variety of skills and expertise to an organization. They come from diverse areas, such as finance, operations, IT and engineering.
Daytime light rail train testing underway
The project team for the LYNX Blue Line Extension has started daytime train testing between Old Concord Road and the UNC Charlotte campus. This testing will continue until the extension becomes fully operational.
Light rail trains will be traveling at very slow speeds on the tracks and stopping at the station on campus. Remember the train is not open for passenger service; stay off the station platforms and away from any parked trains.
