Internal audit releases plan for fiscal year 2023

The UNC Charlotte Internal Audit Department performs operational, compliance, financial and IT audits according to the annual Internal Audit Plan. University to undertake new master planning effort

UNC Charlotte will undertake a new master planning effort starting fall 2022 to refocus and re-envision the University’s plan for facilities and spaces for the next decade. The current University 2010 Master Plan was finalized in April 2011 and served the campus well during the last 10 years as campus enrollment grew to more than 30,000 students. With continual changes to the campus and community, a new master plan is envisioned to move the University forward into the next decade in conjunction with the University’s “Shaping What’s Next” 10-year strategic plan.

Belk College’s Lloyd Blenman has died

Lloyd Blenman, a professor in the Belk College of Business Department of Finance since 1999, died Thursday, April 28.

Blenman, whose area of expertise was international finance, served as editor of the Quarterly Journal of Finance and Accounting, advisory editor for the University of Guyana Press and co-editor of the African Finance Journal.

Kiran Budhrani wins Staff Employee of the Year for innovation

Forty-nine staff members were nominated for the Staff Employee of the Year Award in four categories. Among the innovation nominees, one stood out from the rest — Kiran Budhrani. 

As associate director of personalized and adaptive learning in the Center for Teaching and Learning in the School of Professional Studies, Budhrani demonstrated exceptional innovation and leadership through the implementation of a large-scale academic transformation project in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics to aid student learning.

Kimberly Laney wins Staff Employee of the Year Award for human relations

As director of Niner Central, Kimberly Laney sees each day as a new opportunity to help Niner Nation thrive. What better way to do that than build relationships within UNC Charlotte? 

Her team leadership in providing student services covering critical enrollment areas like financial aid, bursar, health center and registration while being the main point of contact for all calls or inquiries coming to the University, earned Laney the Staff Employee of the Year Award in the category of Human Relations. 

Carol Hartley wins Staff Employee of the Year Award for devotion to duty

Carol Hartley, business services coordinator for the Department of Languages and Culture Studies, is this year’s Employee of the Year recipient in the category devotion to duty. She won not merely because of her devotion to duty, but because “Carol is the heart of our department,” said nominator Ana-Isabel Aliaga-Buchenau, associate chair of the department.

Employees of the Year in devotion to duty go above the normal requirements and have contributed significantly to the advancement of UNC Charlotte and service to the citizens of North Carolina.
