FM’s ‘archaeological engineering’ integral to wastewater sampling

Since September, UNC Charlotte has used wastewater sampling to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 prior to larger outbreaks, or clusters, in residence halls. Research has shown that the coronavirus can be detected in wastewater prior to an individual feeling symptomatic.Campus researchers and students are testing and analyzing the wastewater itself, but staff members in Facilities Management (FM) were integral in establishing this innovative process on campus.

Facilitators sought for student feedback sessions

The Division of Student Affairs and Student Success Working Group are launching a series of student feedback sessions to provide an opportunity for students to share their perspectives navigating virtual and in-person campus life during the pandemic.

The 2020 Giving Green campaign recently concluded with nearly $259,000 from 866 campus employees.

Kirby appointed associate provost of Enrollment Management

Claire Kirby is the new associate provost of Enrollment Management at UNC Charlotte. She joined UNC Charlotte in April 2005 and had served as director of admissions since August 2012.

Access control policy approved

On Monday, Nov. 9, the new University Policy 719, Access Control was approved. This new policy establishes authorities and responsibilities as well as key steps in the access control process. The policy provides clear guidance on the process for requesting, approving, issuing and accountability for key and access cards.

Title IX grievance policy revised

On Monday, Nov. 9, University Policy 504, Title IX Grievance Policy was revised as necessary to comply with the recent issuance of a new UNC System Regulation 1300.11[R], Regulation Applicable to Policy on Title IX Sexual Harassment.

Sexual harassment and interpersonal violence policy revised

On Monday, Nov. 9, University Policy 502, Sexual Harassment and Interpersonal Violence was revised and rewritten as necessary to ensure compliance and consistency with the new University Policy 504, Title IX Grievance Policy.
