Looby needs shared leave

CRES piloting new reservation process

Conferences, Reservations and Event Services (CRES) is piloting a new reservation process to use large spaces more effectively and provide more availability.Campus users may request event spaces one academic year in advance for large-scale events using the Advance Reservations Process with the exception of March and April dates for Popp Martin Student Union, Room 340, which become available on Feb. 1.

Temporary power outage scheduled

Between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22, a scheduled power outage will be required to tie in electrical service related to the RUP 5/Data Center.During this outage, CAB, Cedar, Hickory and Sycamore will not have electrical service or emergency lighting.

Emergency response drill scheduled for Nov. 15

UNC Charlotte, in partnership with the Charlotte Fire Department (CFD), will conduct a small-scale drill on Friday, Nov. 15, at North Deck. The drill will begin around 1 p.m. and will continue for approximately four hours.The drill will be an initial testing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) developed between the University and CFD on how to respond to on-campus fire emergencies. The drill will allow CFD to test important fire-suppression equipment and capabilities on campus to ensure they are in good working order.

University again recognized as a ‘green college’

UNC Charlotte has been recognized for its sustainability efforts for the third time by the Princeton Review’s “Guide to Green Colleges.” This guide helps prospective students understand colleges and universities’ environmental responsibility. 

Architecture professor wins emerging designer competition

Assistant Professor of Architecture Catty Dan Zhang has won the 2019 University of California, Berkeley, College of Environmental Design “Emerging Designers” competition. As the winner, she will receive a $5,000 honorarium, an exhibition of her work in the college’s Wurster Gallery, a reception and the opportunity to deliver a public lecture.
