Exercise is for everybody

Sure, you’ve heard of and seen the huge UNC Charlotte University Recreation Center, also known as UREC, but do you know what it really offers? 

The launch of UNC Charlotte’s Master of Science in Real Estate in fall 2012 collided head on with its city’s well-documented development growth spurt. That collision still impacts Charlotte and the greater Mecklenburg County region.

More than 50 years after earning a bachelor’s degree in business, Chuck Howard ’71 still relies on lessons learned at UNC Charlotte.

UNC Charlotte’s Campus Master Plan is being updated to re-envision a comprehensive campus plan to support the implementation of the University’s strategic plan, Shaping What’s Next.

Zuzanna Dyrda, from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, Poland, is teaching two classes in the College of Arts + Architecture. She also is serving as the 2023 McColl Center Visiting Artist-in-Residence, an annual shared residency program with the McColl Center. 

Retired Bank of America executive Charles Bowman is bringing his expertise to UNC Charlotte as an executive-in-residence. 

In this role, Bowman — who retired from BofA in April 2022 after more than 25 years — will help to further connect the University in the Charlotte region.

Liz Ward ‘14 M.S. is one of 25 business school graduates honored by AACSB International — the world’s largest business education alliance — in its 2023 Class of Influential Leaders.

Nine new proposals have been selected by UNC Charlotte’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion to receive spring 2023 Inclusive Excellence Grants for their potential to advance diversity, promote equity and foster inclusion throughout Charlotte and the surrounding community.

Six distinguished alumni will be honored by the College of Arts + Architecture at its ninth annual celebration of alumni achievement scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 30, in the Anne R. Belk Theater in Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts.

February is a special month for UNC Charlotte’s Botanical Gardens. The popular, annual Orchid Sale returns as an in-person event, along with “Ganache in the Gardens.”

This pair of events is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11-12, and will include special presentations, arts and craft vendors along with the plant sale. Staff-guided tours of Charlotte’s orchid collection will be offered, too.
