The Gambrell Faculty Fellows program has named a new cohort of scholars to help illuminate the way to a more equitable community. Researchers will receive funding for projects focused on topics from challenges facing students with disabilities at UNC Charlotte to how Black women business owners have coped with the stresses of the pandemic.

Mack receives national grant to support nutritional literacy project

Victor Mack, director of the Cato College of Education Office of Educational Outreach, received a 2022 Phi Kappa Phi Literacy Grant to establish the 100 Ways to Nutritional Literary program.

Mack, who partnered with Laurie Garo, senior lecturer emerita, geography and earth sciences, will work with the 100 Black Men of Greater Charlotte and the University’s Center for STEM Education Pre-college Program to implement the grant this fall.

Jeffrey Leak appointed interim associate dean of Honors College

Jeffrey B. Leak was named interim associate dean of the Honors College, effective Aug. 1. In this two-year appointment, Leak will manage the day-to-day functions of the University Honors Program — the largest honors program on campus. Additionally, he will oversee the curriculum, course offerings, programming, advising and instructional budget of the Honors College.
