Highsmith becomes first 49er to earn AP all-America honors

Charlotte 49ers redshirt senior defensive end Alex Highsmith has been named third team all-America by the Associated Press (AP), becoming the first 49ers football player to be so honored. Highsmith also earned first team all-Conference USA honors for the second straight season.

Board of Trustees approves a 3 percent tuition increase for 2020-21 academic year

On Wednesday, Dec. 11, the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees recommended a 3 percent increase in the annual charges for tuition and fees for undergraduate and graduate students, effective for the 2020-21 academic year. It is the first tuition increase for UNC Charlotte in three years.Overall, the increase amounts to an additional $114 in tuition annually for undergraduate students, and a $130 increase annually for graduate students. The 3 percent increase aligns with the cap set by the UNC System Board of Governors.

Three UNC Charlotte alumni were honored recently with the Bank of America Alumni Network Award. This annual award, now in its third year, is sponsored by Bank of America and the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association to recognize alumni employees who have provided superior service to the bank and shown commitment to the community.Alexandra Hayes ’18 received the Young Professional Achievement Award, Stephen Collie ’02 was presented the Professional Achievement Award, and Ashley Striblin ’06 received the Alumni Service Award.
