Aleksandra Degernes is a nontraditional student on a mission. Having recently graduated with a sociology degree with honors this spring, she is now pursuing a Master of Science in Management. HIV/STI awareness event scheduled

“OctoberTest: It’s Good to Know” is an intercollegiate HIV/STI awareness event scheduled at UNC Charlotte, Davidson College, Queens University of Charlotte, and Johnson C. Smith University.

UNC Charlotte’s event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, on the second floor of the Popp Martin Student Union.

UNC Charlotte’s student nurses are amazing! I learned this first-hand two weeks ago when my husband, Todd, was a patient on the cardiac floor at Atrium Health Cabarrus. Todd has atrial fibrillation, commonly known as AFIB, and was hospitalized to receive doses of Tikosyn, a medication to control heart rhythm, every 12 hours. On his fourth and final day at the hospital, he had an electrical cardioversion procedure.

A senior communications major, Allsbrook achieved one of 37 spots in the country to be part of the 22nd NASCAR Diversity Internship Program this past summer — a 10-week opportunity for hands-on experience in a variety of fields within the motorsports industry.
