Comedians Swardson and Koechner to perform during Homecoming week
Nick Swardson and David Koechner will perform at 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, in the Student Union Multipurpose Room, as part of the Homecoming Comedy Show sponsored by the Campus Activities Board. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
Swardson, a comedian, actor and writer/producer, has appeared in “Grandma’s Boy,” Grown Ups,” “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” and “Blades of Glory.” In addition, he has performed on Comedy Central shows “Pretend Time with Nick Swardson.” Currently, he is working on the animated show “CHOZEN.”
Koechner, who got his start on the popular late night show “Saturday Night Live,” has appeared in more than 100 film and television productions, including “Anchorman,” “The Office,” “Get Smart” and “Talladega Nights.” He also performs standup comedy throughout the country.
“We are very excited to bring these top entertainers to UNC Charlotte for Homecoming Week,” said Thanh Le, assistant director for student activities for programs. “Their performances will be a featured attraction among a variety of student-organized activities and University-planned events to make our first football Homecoming a special and memorable experience for everyone.”
The Oct. 10 performance is free for students with a UNC Charlotte student ID and $15 for all others at the door. A limited number of advance tickets will be available for $10 through the Halton Arena Ticket Office; call 704-687-4949.
Swardson and Koechner’s performance will be one of the many events scheduled for Homecoming Week. Other highlights include the Lights Parade and Pep Rally on Friday, Oct. 11, in preparation for the football game at noon, Saturday, Oct. 12, when the Charlotte 49ers take on UNC Pembroke.
The Homecoming Lights Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. on east campus with a pep rally immediately after the parade. Student organizations, faculty and staff, alumni and community groups will light the streets of campus with floats and banners as the parade continues to the front of the Student Union.
The pep rally will feature special performances from spirit groups, food from local restaurants, music, and giveaways. Awards will be given for best float, vehicle, walking unit and community entry at the pep rally.
