Education dean to lead panel discussion
Ellen McIntyre, dean of the University’s College of Education, will moderate a panel discussion on challenges to public education at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, at UNC Charlotte Center City.
Topics for “What’s Next for Public Education in the Charlotte Metro?” include how families make school choices and the options available, the funding gap in public education and its impact on communities and students and how various educational systems coordinate their efforts.
Panelists for the Nov. 9 event are Bill Anderson, executive director of MeckEd; Rep. Rob Bryan (R-Mecklenburg); Eddie Goodall, president, N.C. Public Charter Schools Association; and Heath Morrison, superintendent, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
Staying Ahead Carolina in conjunction with the College of Education is hosting this forum. Founded in 2006, Staying Ahead Carolina is a social networking group that offers free informational programs on current and emerging trends in the Charlotte region.
Attendance to the panel discuss is free; however, registration is required.
