Enslin to talk energy independence for Great Decisions
Johan Enslin, director of the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC), will discuss energy independence at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19, in UNC Charlotte Center City, Room 204, as part of the 2014 Great Decisions lecture series. Prior to his talk, Enslin will be recognized at a reception as part of the UNC Charlotte observance of Engineers Week.
Recently named a 2014 Energy Leadership Award recipient by the Charlotte Business Journal, Enslin was recognized for his efforts to make the Carolinas a global force in the energy sector..
The Office of International Programs, in partnership with the Lee College of Engineering, also will recognize Enslin’s accomplishments with a reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. preceding his presentation Feb. 19.
Enslin has a 32-year career in leadership positions in industry and universities in the United States, Europe and South Africa. He has served as an executive and consultant for private business operations as well as an educator in the field of electrical and electronic engineering. He initiated and managed renewable energy groups that executed multiple complex projects for United States and international industry in power system planning, power electronics and the integration of large-scale solar and wind power to the grid. Enslin has worked for more than 80 U.S., European, Asian and African utilities, governments and industries during his career.
