Friday Night Live comedy series kick offs with Byron Bowers
Comedian Byron Bowers kicks off the Campus Activities Board’s monthly Friday Night Live series at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, in the Cone University Center’s After Hours Lounge.
Bowers uses his own experiences to create a comedy routine that crisscrosses a multicultural socioeconomic landscape. Raised in a lower-middle class black community in Atlanta, Bowers was bused into a more affluent, predominantly white school as a child. The comic uses these experiences as a launching point for his routines.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2008 to further his career, Bowers broadened his cultural insight and expanded his fan base. He performs regularly at comedy clubs across the nation and has won several comedy competitions. He also appears on Adult Swim’s “The Eric Andre Show,” ComCast TV and Comedy Central.
CAB’s Friday Night Live series showcases up-and-coming comedians often recognized from their appearances on programs such as “Last Comic Standing” and “Comedy Central.”
During the comedy series, After Hours is transformed into a full comedy show venue with pipe and drape, tablecloths and battery-powered candles to create a unique nightclub-style ambiance.
The event is free with a UNC Charlotte ID. For more information, visit the CAB website.
