India’s foreign policy subject of International Speaker Series talk

Badrul Alam , head of the Political Science Department at Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi, India, will speak at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, in the J. Murrey Atkins Library, Halton Reading Room, as part of the annual International Speaker Series.

In his free, public presentation, Alam will discuss topics from his book “Contours of India’s Foreign Policy: Changes and Challenges” and share his insight on current affairs between India and the United States.

Alam earned a Ph.D. in American studies at Cornell University, where he also earned master’s degrees in history and government. He completed graduate and undergraduate degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Utkal University and Ravenshaw College in India, too. A noted Indian-U.S. scholar, Alam is the author of “Indo-U.S. Relations: Dimensions and Emerging Trends” and “Perspectives on Nuclear Strategy of India and Pakistan.”

The Office of International Programs (OIP), in collaboration with the World Affairs Council of Charlotte, Atkins Library and the Department of Global, International, and Area Studies, coordinates the International Speaker Series.

Faculty members are encouraged to bring their students to this talk. OIP will provide extra credit attendance sign-in upon request.
