Two faculty exhibitions to be displayed in Rowe Galleries
The Rowe Galleries will host exhibitions by two faculty members from the Department of Art and Art History.
David Brodeur, associate professor of graphic design, has the show “Semantics, Semiotics & the Second Amendment.” It takes a critical look at some of the issues surrounding the gun culture in the United States.
Thomas Schmidt is assistant professor of interdisciplinary 3D studio and a ceramist. Schmidt’s work attempts to both integrate and blur the boundaries between the digital and analog as a means for exploring the tactile world. From digitally modeled building blocks and crumpled porcelain tile, to panels of aluminum fused with porcelain shards, Schmidt’s “Data Mine” draws upon installation art and architecture to orchestrate and capture a variety of material moments for the viewer to experience and unfold.
The exhibition runs through Wednesday, Jan. 28.
