Next generation Inside UNC Charlotte website to launch Friday

Inside UNC Charlotte, the online campus news/information resource for UNC Charlotte employees, is getting a new look, and the redesigned site launches Friday, Jan. 30. It was a collaborative effort by units within University communications, based upon feedback and suggestions from users across campus.

One of the major changes will be the ability to watch “The Live Wire” directly from the Inside UNC Charlotte homepage, in the main news area. “The Live Wire” is a streaming broadcast that airs virtually every week during the academic year; guests discuss interesting topics related to campus.

The main news area will accommodate up to six articles or videos at a time, as well as feature photographs taken by the campus photographer, communications/marketing staff at the college/administrative level or submitted by faculty/staff/students.

Underneath the main section is “News and Features,” which will provide a stream of additional articles, with three items displayed at a time. Users will employ “Previous Pause Next” options to advance the News and Features stream for more content.

Existing Inside UNC Charlotte sections In the News, Upcoming Events, Swap-n-Shop and Notices will remain. The Spotlight On addition will enable Inside UNC Charlotte to bring greater attention to certain stories or events.

Three added areas will provide dedicated space for news from the Human Resources Department and the Faculty and Staff councils.

“Since its debut in August 2012, Inside UNC Charlotte has seen increased usage by faculty and staff,” said John Bland, director of public relations. “Editor Phillip Brown manages Inside UNC Charlotte, adding stories, videos and photos to the site virtually every day during the workweek. Communicators from the colleges and administrative units provide content too.”

Anyone with Internet access can utilize Inside UNC Charlotte to learn more about what’s happening across campus.
