Madsen named University Career Center director
Patrick Madsen is director of the University Career Center; he officially started the position on Monday, Aug. 17.
Madsen joins the University from UNC Greensboro, where he was director of its Career Services Center. He is recognized for successfully transforming UNC Greensboro’s career center into a contemporary one that meets the needs of today’s students, alumni and employers.
Prior to UNC Greensboro, Madsen was director of career services at Johns Hopkins University’s Carey Business School, where he was instrumental in creating comprehensive career services for Global MBA and part-time professional programs, as well as an executive fellows program and undergraduate programs. He also worked at Nova Southeastern University in Florida as assistant director of career services for operations and campus relations and at East Carolina University as assistant director for career development.
Throughout his tenure, Madsen has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in counseling education, organizational communication and career systems in higher education.
As a Fulbright specialist, Madsen is considered an international expert in higher education and career services. He completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology from N.C. State University, a master’s in counseling education from East Carolina University and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
