Literature students to hold ‘Pinwheels for Peace’ fundraiser
UNC Charlotte students in the class “War and Genocide in Children’s Literature” will hold “Pinwheels for Peace” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, in the peace garden between Atkins Library and the College of Health and Human Services.
This event is a fundraiser in conjunction with Students Rebuild, a collaborative program of the Bezos Family Foundation of Seattle, Wash. For every pinwheel made, the foundation will donate $2 (up to $300,000) to the International Rescue Committee’s Healing Classroom Program. Donations from the Oct. 23 event will benefit children affected by the ongoing conflict in Syria.
