SNL’s Kenan Thompson to headline Homecoming comedy show
“Saturday Night Live” comedian Kenan Thompson will perform at 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 19, in the Student Union, Room 340, for the 2015 Homecoming Comedy Show sponsored by Campus Activities Board.
The show is free to UNC Charlotte students with a valid I.D.; admission at the door. Limited general public tickets are $20 and are available at the Arena Box Office (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by calling 704-687-4949 or online). Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for general seating.
Thompson has starred in a number of movies, including “Fat Albert,” in which he played the title character. In 2003, Thompson joined the SNL (Saturday Night Live) cast; he is the longest-tenured African-American on the show.
As a teen star in the 1990s on Nickelodeon, Thompson had a main role in the comedy show, “All That.” The spinoff “Kenan and Kel” featured Thompson and comedy partner Kel Mitchell. Continuing their rise to fame, Thompson and Mitchell starred in the Nickelodeon movie “Good Burger” based upon a skit from their show.
Thompson got his start on CNN’s Real News for Kids when he did a review of the movie “The Mighty Ducks. His other films include “D2: The Mighty Ducks 2,” “Heavyweights,” “Mighty Ducks 3,” “Rocky and Bullwinkle,” “Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” “Barbershop 2” and “Snakes on a Plane.”
