Charlotte group endows computing scholarship
The Charlotte chapter of the Society of Information Management (SIM) has established a $25,000 endowed scholarship to support the College of Computing and Informatics’ Women in Computing Initiative.
“The Charlotte Region SIM (Society of Information Management) chapter is committed to supporting IT leadership development in the local community and STEM initiatives,” said Elizabeth Austin, Charlotte Region SIM chapter president. “The UNC Charlotte College of Computing and Informatics Women in Computing Endowed Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for Charlotte SIM to support diversity in the development of our region’s next generation of technology leaders.”
Applicants must be a junior in the College of Computing and Informatics at UNC Charlotte with a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better, a resident of North or South Carolina and preferably from Mecklenburg or the surrounding counties.
“We can’t thank SIM enough for its continued support of our college and our ambitious initiative,” Yi Deng, dean of the College of Computing and Informatics, said. “We will be working closely with SIM to identify and recognize the deserving recipients.”
