Ribarsky named to senior IEEE publications position

William Ribarsky, Bank of America Endowed Chair in Information Technology in the College of Computing and Informatics, was named chair of the IEEE Computer Society Transactions Operations Committee and member of the society’s Publications Board.

The Computer Society is the largest of the 39 IEEE technical societies with 60,000-plus members from approximately 168 countries; the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Computer Society Transactions Committee oversees 20 transactions, which are considered Tier 1 academic journals, several of which are the leading ones in their fields.

Ribarsky will lead the committee to strengthen and unify the operations of the transactions to extend their reach and establish opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations among fields.
