Religious studies professor to address the rise of ISIS
As part of the 2016 Great Decisions Lecture Series, Kathryn Johnson, an associate professor in the Department of Religious Studies, will discuss the rise of ISIS at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17, at UNC Charlotte Center City.
Johnson, who joined the University faculty in 1988, teaches courses in Islamic studies.
The Office of International Programs sponsors the Great Decisions Lecture Series locally. The Foreign Policy Association, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop awareness, understanding and informed opinion on U.S. foreign policy and global issues, coordinates the Great Decisions Lecture series nationally. The association provides background information and policy options for the most critical issues facing America each year and serves as the focal text for discussion groups across the country.
Greg Weeks from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration will deliver the final talk in the series on Feb. 24; he will discuss Cuba and the United States.
