Full professors receive Jefferson Cup, other faculty recognized at Convocation

At this year’s University Convocation, Provost Joan Lorden recognized faculty members promoted to full professor. She and Faculty President Richard Leeman presented each a Jefferson Cup, originally designed by Thomas Jefferson. The cup is engraved with the UNC Charlotte logo, the faculty member’s name and the year recognized.

This year’s honorees were: Dean Adams, theatre; Dan Dupre, history; Jae Emerling, art and art history; David Fan, civil and environmental engineering; Dan Grano, communication studies; Valery Grdzelishvili, biological sciences; Jun-tao Guo, bioinformatics and genomics; Schnavia Hatcher, social work; Donna Kazemi, nursing; Pam Lassiter, counseling; Zhongjie Lin, architecture; Aidong Lu, computer science; Florence Martin, educational leadership; Jennifer Munroe, English; Teresa Petty, middle, secondary and K-12 education; Christine Richardson, biological sciences; Deb Ryan, architecture; Spencer Salas, middle, secondary and K-12 education; Ashli Stokes, communication studies; Lara Vetter, English; Marcia Watson, Turner School of Accountancy; and Justin Webb, management. During Convocation, faculty members who have 25 years of University service and those who earned tenure were recognized, too.

Twenty-five year faculty members are Lynn Ahlgrim-Delzell, educational leadership; Harish Cherukuri, Robert Johnson and Stuart Smith, mechanical engineering and engineering science; Rosemary Hopcroft, sociology; Tony Jackson, English; David Langford and Jane Neese, nursing; Oscar Lansen, history; Greg Snyder, architecture; and Yanqing Sun, mathematics and statistics.
