School of Architecture to co-present ‘Cities of Tomorrow’

The School of Architecture and Discovery Place Science will co-present “Cities of Tomorrow,” a panel discussion featuring UNC Charlotte architecture faculty and alumni, on Friday, Aug. 23, at Discovery Place. The discussion is inspired by the “Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO Bricks” exhibition, which is on display at the science museum.

Associate Professor of Architectural History Emily Makas will moderate the discussion with fellow architecture professor Jefferson Ellinger and alumni Nick Ault and Sean Gallagher. Ault earned a Master of Architecture degree from UNC Charlotte in 2006 and is a licensed architect at Little Diversified Architectural Consulting in Charlotte. Gallagher, who earned a Bachelor of Architecture from UNC Charlotte in 2000, is an associate principal at the New York-based firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R). He is leading the DS+R redesign of Discovery Place Science.

The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m., is free and open to the public, but reservations are required.
