Alumnus, chef to discuss career in food media
Chadwick Boyd ’93 is a noted food and lifestyle expert whose biscuit tour with celebrity chef Carla Hall has created a buzz. And he got his start right here at UNC Charlotte.
Boyd will return to campus Wednesday, Nov. 6, to talk to students about how UNC Charlotte influenced his career. Students can expect to get career advice from Boyd, as well as a chance to sample some of his famous biscuits. The event, sponsored by the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association, is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Salons. Register to attend.
Owner of Chadwick Boyd Lifestyle, Boyd is a food media entrepreneur and TV host. For Boyd, food is a lifestyle, and he has worked with brands such as the Food Network, Random House, Meredith Corporation and Target to develop and grow that niche. He works both in front of and behind the camera. In his new Hallmark Drama TV series, “Christmas Cookie Matchup,” Boyd is judge of a cookie baking challenge. The show debuts Nov. 13.
Boyd, who earned a bachelor’s degree in English, has been touring with Hall, a celebrity chef and former cohost of “The Chew,” on the “Biscuit Time” tour, where they share their biscuit making secrets.
Catch Boyd cooking on the Hallmark Channel program “Home & Family” and Food Network’s “The Kitchen,” and he is host of “Reel Food,” the first food entertainment series in movie theaters.
TED selected his recipe collection, “Entertaining with Vegetables,” as one of 78 books to help recharge a person’s life. His future projects include another book on vegetables and one on biscuits. Boyd is a contributor to Better Homes and Gardens, Kitchn, Serious Eats and Huffington Post.
