Bowl Bound?
The Charlotte 49ers (5-5, C-USA 3-3) have a bye this week, but nothing can diminish the buzz around football. After another thrilling come-from-behind victory over UTEP, Charlotte has now won three straight, matching the team’s single-season record. The 49ers, bowl eligible with one more win, host Marshall on Nov. 23.
Esteemed deans
Nancy A. Gutierrez, dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, was elected chair of the North Carolina Humanities Council Board of Trustees for 2019. Also, Catrine Tudor-Locke, dean of the College of Health and Human Services, was named the 2019 Alumna of the Year by the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada.
FinTech Boot Camp
UNC Charlotte is the first university in the state to offer boot-camp classes to meet the growing demand for expertise in financial technology, or FinTech. Classes start in March 2020, and they’re filling up fast.
