Unmanned Aircraft Systems policy revised

On Thursday, Nov. 21, the chancellor approved revisions to University

Policy 717, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). This University Policy has been revised to:

  • broaden the scope of policy applicability to include all campus property
  • streamline and clarify required advance notice requirements for UAS flights on campus
  • clarify the circumstances under which UNC Charlotte may allow non-University commercial flights on campus
  • prohibit UAS operations while UNC Charlotte is in Operating Condition C1, C2, or C3
  • articulate universal safety standards that must be followed
