Broome, Gray named deputy Title IX coordinators

Pamela Broome and Lee Gray recently were named deputy Title IX coordinators for Niner University Elementary and Academic Affairs, respectively, within the University’s Title IX Office.

Broome is principal of Niner University Elementary School, the University’s lab school scheduled to open in August 2020. Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, Broome worked with a nonprofit organization providing professional development and job-embedded coaching to schools and districts across the country. She complete a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UNC Wilmington and a master’s in school administration from Gardner-Webb University.

Gray joined UNC Charlotte in 1990 as a faculty member in the College of Architecture (now the School of Architecture in the College of Arts + Architecture). Previously, he has served as University faculty president, interim University librarian, interim chair of Architecture, interim chair of Theatre and interim dean of the College of Arts + Architecture, where he serves as the senior associate dean for Academic Affairs. He is an internationally recognized scholar of the history of elevators, escalators and moving sidewalks.

Broome and Gray will join Director of Title IX Compliance/Title IX Coordinator Michelle Reinken, Ph.D., and the existing deputy Title IX coordinator team in efforts to ensure that no member of the UNC Charlotte community is denied access to the University’s educational programs or activities as a result of sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment or sexual or interpersonal misconduct.

Other deputy Title IX coordinators are Christine Reed Davis, Student Affairs; Cindy Edwards, Human Resources; Katherine Hall-Hertel, Academic Affairs/Graduate School; and Ragean Hill, Athletics.
