Professor keynotes theatre education conference
Assistant Professor of Theatre Kaja Dunn delivered the keynote address at the Emergency Conference on Undergraduate Theater Education presented virtually by George Mason University. The recent conference was organized in response to the challenges to teaching and performing that are the result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dunn’s lecture addressed “Teaching in Trauma.”
Dunn teaches acting at UNC Charlotte and is an actor, director and activist. Her research targets reshaping pedagogy for theatre students of color as well as decolonization and issues of equity, diversity and inclusion in theatre and their application in academic, professional and corporate settings. She has presented her work, “Training Theatre Students of Color,” at the University of London Goldsmiths, and the Association of Theatre in Higher Education among other places.
