Kirby appointed associate provost of Enrollment Management
Claire Kirby is the new associate provost of Enrollment Management at UNC Charlotte. She joined UNC Charlotte in April 2005 and had served as director of admissions since August 2012.
Kirby led UNC Charlotte’s Undergraduate Admissions team to achieve 26% growth in new freshmen and 10% growth in new transfer students over the last nine years, contributing to nearly 20% overall growth in undergraduate enrollment at the University. She also led the University in significantly exceeding enrollment expectations for fall 2020 by enrolling more than 6,600 new undergraduates.
In her new role, Kirby will provide oversight for the Department of Enrollment Management, which includes Undergraduate Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, Niner Central, Office of Adult Students and Evening Services, the 49erNext Program, University Scholarship Office, Enrollment Communications and Residency Compliance.
Prior to UNC Charlotte, she was an admissions counselor and manager for Strayer University and was an instructor and academic advisor for the College of Communication and Information Sciences at the University of Alabama. Kirby holds a Master of Arts in Public Relations and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Alabama.
“Claire brings immense institutional knowledge, strategic thinking and experience to this position, and she has a proven track record on this campus of enrollment growth during tough times. She is committed to student success and I am confident that she can lead this complex team,” said Joan Lorden, provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs.
