Faculty and staff support students and local communities through Giving Green
The 2020 Giving Green campaign recently concluded with nearly $259,000 from 866 campus employees. Their generous gifts will help support UNC Charlotte students in need, charities affiliated with the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) and community arts through the Arts & Science Council (ASC).
As part of this year’s campaign, faculty and staff were given an opportunity to make a difference through community outreach and service by helping to assemble toiletry kits and pencil packs for local organizations with volunteer at home kits. More than 73 employees made and donated 4,500 kits and packs to local nonprofit organizations and schools.
“Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s campaign by making a gift or by assembling toiletry and pencil packs from home,” said Stacie G. Young ‘98, director of annual giving. “It is truly gratifying to see so many of our colleagues come together, especially during these challenging times, to help support our students and our local communities.”
In addition, thank you to all of the Giving Green champions at the division and unit level. “It takes a village to support the Giving Green campaign,” said Young. “The volunteer champions did a great job, especially with the constraints of the pandemic, to encourage their co-workers to be part of this year’s campaign.”
