Diversity dashboard launches

UNC Charlotte has launched an interactive diversity dashboard, a tool that offers fingertip access to data about the compositional diversity of the University’s students and employees.

The dashboard was developed through a collaboration between the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support. In addition to displaying demographic data as it is reported to the federal government through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) — a series of surveys conducted by the U.S. Department of Education — the dashboard provides numerical breakdowns, allows users to view data trends and delivers cross-sectional analyses among self-reported identity groups ranging from race and ethnicity to sex, first generation, rural and veteran status.

“Our goal is to increase transparency and accessibility to key demographic data as part of our commitment to creating equitable pathways for all members of our campus community,” said Chief Diversity Officer Brandon L. Wolfe. “This dashboard provides comprehensive information for highlighting points of pride for our institutional efforts and assisting our decision making.”

UNC Charlotte has made a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion a priority of “Shaping What’s Next,’’ its strategic plan for 2021-31, with a goal to become a model campus in this regard.
