University to undertake new master planning effort
UNC Charlotte will undertake a new master planning effort starting fall 2022 to refocus and re-envision the University’s plan for facilities and spaces for the next decade. The current University 2010 Master Plan was finalized in April 2011 and served the campus well during the last 10 years as campus enrollment grew to more than 30,000 students. With continual changes to the campus and community, a new master plan is envisioned to move the University forward into the next decade in conjunction with the University’s “Shaping What’s Next” 10-year strategic plan.
A consultant is currently engaged with the Office of Facilities Management to develop the approach and scope of work needed for the new master plan. Creation of the Request for Proposal and selection of the consulting team to lead the effort will occur during summer 2022.
The master planning effort will involve a wide range of participants, including faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members during a span of 12 to 18 months. A University Working Group will be established to guide the process and a larger Steering Committee will further review planning concepts throughout the process. These groups will be constituted by late summer 2022.
