UNC Charlotte ranked among top employers in North Carolina by Forbes magazine
UNC Charlotte has been named to “America’s Best Employers by State” list by Forbes, which released its rankings Aug. 24. The University ranked 44 out of the top 100 employers in North Carolina, ranking among major organizations such as Compass Group, Lowe’s and Bank of America.
For the ranking, Forbes and the market research company Statista anonymously surveyed 70,000 Americans who work for businesses that employ at least 500 people.
Survey participants rated their employers on criteria such as opportunities for advancement, openness to telecommuting, the safety of their work environment and competitiveness of compensation. They were then asked the likelihood they would recommend their employers to others and to nominate other employers in industries outside of their own.
“This survey by Forbes demonstrates what many of us are feeling — UNC Charlotte is a great place to work,” Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber said. “This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees and the intentional efforts on behalf of campus leaders, faculty and staff to build a thriving culture.”
Other UNC System universities joining UNC Charlotte on the list include UNC Chapel Hill, North Carolina State, Western Carolina and UNC Greensboro.
In February, Forbes ranked UNC Charlotte one of its top mid-size employers, the only higher-education institution in North Carolina on the list.
